Natural England - Long term Monitoring Network
As part of Natural England's integration programme, they are looking to ensure there is a network of 10-14 sites across the UK which are collecting the information needed for biodiversity and climate observations.
Natural England has mapped where the current monitoring sites are, from at least 34 monitoring programmes - both publicly funded and through volunteer groups. UK-EOF then facilitated a workshop to discuss initial ideas with many of the owners of the 34 programmes. Many of the potential opportunities and barriers were discussed and the meeting was a real success.
The workshop was just the begining of the process for more detailed 1:1 meetings over 2012 to discuss details and how to make real changes that benefit all. The lessons from this work will be available to others later in 2012. Further information about the Natural England project can be found on the Natural England website.
