There are many complex issues surrounding the access, reuse, sharing and archiving of environmental data. The aim of the Data Initiative - Focal Point is to reduce the barriers and promote best practice for the sharing of environmental observation data.
During 2010, a key consideration for the Data Initiative - Focal Point was to work collaboratively with the growing number of other data sharing and management initiatives. This ensured that maximum benefit was achieved whilst avoiding duplication of effort and unnecessary IT development.
Regular updates about the various UK, EU and global data initiatives such as INSPIRE, GMES, GEO and SEIS are being made available through the UK-EOF Data Advisory Group. Any actions will be shared across the community as will best practice and expertise.
We are keen to add additional useful resources to help our community. If you have information you would like to contribute, or a suggestion for another type of resource to include, please send it to office@ukeof.org.uk stating 'Data Resources' in the subject title.
